I was suppose to post Dorte's chapter review today but I've had an incredibly busy week. I will post it on Saturday instead.
So, instead I leave you with these funny videos. This is one of my favorite commercials of all times... I think writers can learn a lot about writing from it. With setting (outside, alone in the rain)and POV (from the lamp's POV) our feelings can be roused... even for inanimate objects.
Remember this commercial?
and you are so right, I think am addicted to your blog. Is there an anonymous group for this and did u know it is 3.04 am my time?
ReplyDeleteWhat!? What are you doing up? I'm honored that you would read my blog at that hour... now, go to sleep already! Talk to you tomorrow.

ReplyDeletethanks Clarissa, I needed a laugh...
you're welcome, Pat!

Ha ha ha.
ReplyDeleteThe second one reminded me of my son. For the longest time, he used to say sinking when he meant thinking!
Wow. That Ikea lamp ad is really moving. The bit with the poor lamp's outside in the rain, its light blinks on and then the camera shifts as though it's glancing up at the window. Aww. Almost makes me want to go and give my trusty old reading lamp a big hug.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen either of these commercials but they were pretty funny! I sure wish I could save that lamp... :(
ReplyDeleteOh love that IKEA lamp add - it's so so so so sad!! Awwwww! Poor lamp!! Boooo to Ikea lamp! LOL! And to that weird ikea man!!! I wanted to hug that poor discarded lamp. They so have feelings!
ReplyDeleteOh that "sinking" feeling. Oh dear - no that's just too funny! LOL!! Take care
x
Clarissa - What great videos!! Thanks for posting these. But I do feel very sorry for that lamp....I could give it a home. Really.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen those ads, but--poor lamp! In the wet, cold, dark world!
ReplyDeleteI love IKEA! Funny, funny videos :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm glad you liked them. They gave me a chuckle yesterday.

oh thank you dear person. Today it is rainy and blowy here - I'm so tired and full from my travels and those videos just hit the spot!
ReplyDelete*gigglesnort* Oh, very nice. I love both of those. And you're right... definite lessons for writers in that first one--the second too, actually--I have just added a plot twist that has to do with misinterpretation of what is heard.
ReplyDeleteThe videos are great. The first one reminds me of a story I read in school. It was about all of these feelings and at the end you found out it was from the POV of a shopping cart (grocery buggy).

Great Ikea commercial. The person carrying the lamo like a small child strikes something in the viewer, that bond of a parent/child relationship. Well done!

The lamp commercial was sad, but I laughed out loud at the language one.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen either of these commercials! I really was feeling sorry for that little lamp! It made me think of "Toy Story." What if it really DOES have feelings??? But the guy at the end made me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chuckles, Clarissa! Have a great weekend! :)
Love these! Nothing makes me laugh more than funny adverts. And Seinfeld.
ReplyDeleteI felt so sorry for the lamp! And the language one made me laugh out loud. So funny!
ReplyDeleteHello, fellow crusader!
ReplyDeleteI love, LOVE the name of your blog! And I'm doing just that... Listening to the voices... and writing them down :-)
PS. Not crazy...
I thought I might marry that IKEA ad, and then I watched the English one. lol.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're right. A great writer can evoke emotion in all the wierdest places.
Thanks, guys for the nice comments.
