Clarissa - As always, thanks for this terrific info. Some of these I already knew, but it's always good to have a reliable source :-).
oh, thanks for this Clarissa, I have a huge number of writers among my friends, but you people often confuse me with your acronyms, so this is very very helpful :)))
I got stumped with ARC!! I see them, I comment, I say yay!! and I haven't a clue what an ARC is! Now I know!!! I sort of guessed but I just didn't really now what an ARC was! LOL!! Thank you for enlightening me!!
Take care

I didn't know LI. Thanks for this list-- it's very thorough, as these are the ones we see most often. Oh yes-- ms. for manuscript.
Nice list Clarissa imagine if we writers were texters we will be full of the OMG got ARC MC's LI is OTT
Hadn't heard of LI, but just learned ARC last week. Love the post-it note. Too funny.
Thanks Clarissa. I printed a list of yours and Angela's. The old mind sometimes plays tricks with what I remember.
Most of them puzzle me, I just Google them and then I'm less muddled... :0)
What a joy you are. You always find a way to make my life easier, thank you :D
Jules @ Trying To Get Over The Rainbow
Very timely Clarissa as always. I didn't know LI or hardly any of Angela's. But I'm sure there are many more..:) I always thought ARC meant a dramatic moment in the WIP. Just like some people used to think LOL meant Lots of Love not LOL!
Hey, I found one I didn't know: LI. :D
As someone new to the Blogger/Writing community this is going to come in real handy. Thank you!
Too many! I am not an acronym person, although I use NaNo.
Thanks, guys, I added Angela's to my list. If you have more, I'll add it too.

A very handy list. A few I knew, but the rest were a mystery. Thanks.

Thoughts in Progress
What a useful list. Thank you.
I've been following you for a while but I'm not sure if I've commented. I'm a fellow crusader. Nice to 'meet' you.
For ages I didn't know what MG was ;)
Great list. I can't think of any more to add.
This is so helpful. It took me months to figure all these out.
I didn't know LI--thanks for that! I'll add SNI (Shiny New Idea). That one has been popping up a lot lately. :o)
Thanks again!
I knew the ones till NaNoWriMo, but the rest were all new to me. I better learn them fast, because the next book I intend to write is a CB.
I can't believe how long it took me to figure out MC. I could not figure out why everyone were talking about motorcycles all the time...
This is a most useful list, though many of these I have come to understand with time :)
Here's another one HEA--happily ever after
Great list. I can't think of any that the others haven't already added. Thanks for the info!
Several are new to me...But I'm still not sure what "Middle Grade" IS! What does that mean? It sounds like an awful way to describe your work. "Oh, it's middle grade."
This is a great list. I've often wondered about some of the acronyms I read. Thanks!

Michele, middle grade is the age group the book is designed for.
Thanks, everyone for stopping by. I will keep adding to the list as I see them.

Hi Clarissa,
I'm stuck on my novel, you may have noticed :0) and thought the idea of having someone other than myself look at it a great idea.
I write children's fiction and wondered if it would be all right to post the beginning to you?
Kind regards, Carole. caroleannecarr.com
I really like what you're doing here! And your list of Acronyms is in incredibly helpful. Thanks!
Haven't come across LI before, nor had I seen IM like that before. SNI is another new one for me.
Ha! This is a great list! It took me so long to figure these out when I first started. Like the other commentors, I didn't know LI either.
MS = Manuscript
ML = Midlist
BL = Back-list
And I feel like there's something obvious we're all forgetting. I'll probably remember it when I use it. lol
@Michele - Middle grade is more or less between children's books and young adult books.
SCBWI- Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
Thanks for this. I keep meaning to put one on my blog.
RMFW Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers, based in Denver, Colorado, USA. United States of America.
I'm going to copy those and pass them out at critique.
