Recently, Ann Best lost her blog. I think she managed to salvage most of it but what a stressful situation for those who work hard on their blog. So, what can we do? We can save it.
Here's how:
1) On your Blogger dashboard go to (a) SETTINGS --> (b) BASIC --> (c) EXPORT BLOG
2) Press DOWNLOAD BLOG
3) Press SAVE FILE button and OK.
4) Once saved, find the file and email it to yourself.
thanks for the reminder. i backed up all 15 (some belong to my kids, one's my website...). i'll link to this from my blog to remind my blogging friends.
btw, i love your blurb above the comments. i do the same thing. :)
I feel so sorry for Ann! I hope she gets all her followers back and more! I'll save both my blogs right now, I would be crushed if I lost my blog:( Thanks for this, Clarissa! You're always so helpful!
This is fantastic ... Thank you so much! I was having problems earlier with my blog for signing in. I panicked because I couldn't post or leave comments. It took me a few hours to figure it out. I can just imagine if it wiped out, I'd freak! Have a great day.
Thanks for the reminder! I also accidentally deleted an old blog -- and am very glad it isn't the current one. I am definitely exporting it more frequently now.
Blogger can be such a problem sometimes. Thank you so much for the step-by-step instructions. I will go do this immediately. Nancy N. R. Williams, fantasy author
Thank you so much for this advice. I had no idea about backing up my blog and I am so sorry for Ann Best losing her blog, and so relieved that she managed to recover most of it.
Thanks for this useful and important information. I followed your advice and sent a message to myself with all that info. Am so sorry to hear about Ann Best losing all!
I tried to change my comment widget last week and for a moment thought I lost all my comments etc, I posted a OMG Help on my blog I was almost in tears, lol, I can laugh now.
thanks Clarissa, this is very helpful info. I once had a diskette of my poetry that somehow became corrupted, and unreadable. Devestation! Thank god for hard copy.
Actually, my son Lazy backed up my blog when he re-vamped it. But, it's probably a good thing to do again. When it comes to backups for electronics, I don't believe in over kill.
WAY cool, thanks for the tip! I didn't even know things like that could happen--yikes. It's nice to have a file/record of all my posts, anyway. Very handy, thank you.
Thank you for the useful tip. I recently switched to a non blogger template and had a huge scare when I thought that my entire blog content vanished. Thankfully I was able to restore it, but this is a far better way to go.
Thanks Clarissa, got to this post from Rach _ I lost my company blog and now just got error 404 for this one, my heart stood. Ok i'm still breathing I know...lol
Good reminder. I once almost lost my blog when changing to a template I found on the net. Just about gave me a heart attack!
