Worst Movies EVER!

Alex J. Cavanaugh is hosting another blogfest! I don't go to many movies because I'm not a fan of crowds, so when I'm forced to go, I choose wisely. Coming up with ten bad ones was difficult. They are in no particular order...

(1) Scary Movie - personally, if you have to add the word "Movie" to any movie title, it's probably not that good--Epic Movie, Disaster Movie. Really, you couldn't have been more creative?

(2) Swept Away - in one word: HER

(3) Pink Panther II
(4) Superman IV
(5) Transformers II - starting to notice a pattern? Unless your production company has the letters PIXAR in the name, avoid sequels.

(6) Land Before Time #4 to #1035 - I'm pretty sure they've made over a thousand of these movies by now. My son grew up with this series and it was all right watching them over and over and over and over but really, I think they ran out of ideas after the third one...perhaps, first.

(7) It's Pat - It's horrible.
(8) Green Hornet - I was stung! I started watching it and had to stop. I think his super power is to kill brain cells with every minute you watch.
(9) The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - I think they meant Extra Ordinary but it was a typo. I love Connery but this event was sad to witness.
(10) Pride and Prejudice--the non-Firth version.
What!?
Now don't get me wrong, I love this guy:
Especially like this...
And even this guy:
But, I have high standards for my Jane Austen movies and I felt this movie was like watching her novel on fast forward.

And, I know I'm going to get eaten alive by my last choice...

What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

  1. Great choices!

I just tried to watch Green Hornet on Saturday! Like you, I just couldn't do it.

  2. Believe it or not, I have not seen any of your movies except P&P, both versions, and I have to agree with you on the last. It WAS like watching it on fast forward.

    ReplyDelete
  3. No way, I agree. They skipped pivotal moments in P&P and it just zaps the essence of a story right out. Yeah, I could tell from the trailer Green Hornet was gonna suck.
And omgosh if i have to sit thru another Land Before Time movie I will puke.

  4. too bad the waves didn't swept away HER forever! :)

I think I might be the only one who actually liked THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTS. It wasn't the best of films, off course, but I liked its size and visual aspect.

  5. I didn't like the Green Hornet either. I did like the first few Land Before Time--my son was preschool and grade school for these.

I'm so over Pride and Prejudice, period.

Actually, I like The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

  6. I didn't care for that version of Pride and Prejudice either.

  7. I had to laugh at the Land before Time. My son watched the first couple and I thought those were yawners. Glad he never made it past that one.

  8. number 9, number 9.... i loved it and felt it was underplayed. the rest is a great list of crap... though i like transfomers 2 and didn't care for the first one.

  9. The only one of these I've seen is Scary movie. In its defense, it's supposed to be bad--It's not my thing, but I get why my kids like it. And I'm VERY glad my kids missed that Land Before Time Window. We have family friends that got into it, so I saw a few, and I even found 1-3 painful.

  10. I'm with you...no one should have remade "Pride and Prejudice" after the excellent A&E production.

  11. Too many sequels just don't cut it. Great list.

  12. I don't watch many movies, so I can't speak to most of these, but yeah, when you put 'Movie' in the title, it says all I need to know. :D

  13. Land Before Time #4 through #1035 - that's hilarious! Superman IV was awful. I've tried to forget it.
Thanks for pariticipating in the blogfest!

  14. Hollywood needs to realize sequels suck! And I hear you about Land Before Time--my son loves those and I think each one of them has the same soundtrack.

  15. Looks like a great list - the only one that I liked (or saw?) was Swept Away but I think you're talking about a different one - I'm talking the 1972 one written and directed by Lina Wertmüller and starring the amazing Giancarlo Giannini with Mariangela Melato and Riccardo Salvino.
Oh, I just found out - you mean the Madonna movie - I won't see her in anything ever since I watched her mean-spirited docu-me me me, Yep. that is my worst movie - Truth or Dare - no truth, no dare. Try the original Swept Away, or anything by Wertmuller!

  16. yeah, i liked the league, but i couldn't sit through green hornet- and seth rogen is such a cutie! i hated that i didn't like that movie!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I felt like that about the new Pride and Prejudice when I first saw it. But it has since grown on me. Now it's my favorite version.

    That was hilarious!

And I gotta agree with you on 'Land Before Time'. My son watched all 2008 of them (there are twice as many as you suspect) and watched them until I suffered irreparable brain damage.

  18. There are so many bad choices out there, I'm not sure how you all chose! But, you've got some good ones listed. Definitely bad.

  19. Not at all Clarissa, I was disappointed with the Pride and Prejudice too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I've seen almost all of those. Unfortunately. Except the last one. I try not to watch movies of the books I love. I am always disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  21. You picked some real Cinematic Stinkers. I have to admit I liked That's Pat. Not sure why. It was so bad, it was good.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi Clarissa -- even with the number of movies I've watched, the only one on your list I saw was that unfortunate version of Pride and Prejudice. I'll make sure the rest are not on my Netflix list.

    ReplyDelete
  23. And how likely would you ever go see a movie based on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? Would that kind of flick be better or worse than Scary Movie?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Piranha 3D was pretty bad. They felt the need to digitally animate the fish eating a guy's penis and it floats around on screen while the fish fight over it and one of them swallows it only to spit it back up. I was like...really? This is terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Nothing beats Colin Firth and his wet shirt. Sigh.

    Take care

  26. omg I totally forgot about the league of extraordinary gentlemen who decided to make an extraordinarily horrible movie!

    ReplyDelete
  27. "#4 to #1035" I laughed out loud when I read this.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ooh, some reminders of which movies I thought were bad--especially The Land Before Time saga--bleh! :P

  29. I agree with you on The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The BBC Pride and Prejudice will always be the measure of the perfect adaptation!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh yeah! I'd say your list is pretty full of stinkers. I did like number 9 though. I didn't see Green Hornet, because I didn't want to spoil my old memories.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Swept Away...why hadn't I even heard of that one??? I've seen it on a few posts, today. And P&P, my love for that story is so profound...I practically know it by heart. *sighs, tears up*

    Great list!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Great list. I haven't seen swept away, but I heard it was terrible. I saw about 10 minutes of the Green Hornet, enough for me to quickly turn the channel.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Swept Away, with Twilight a close second, but I fell on the sword for the sake of my daughter with that one.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good choices! Some sequels shouldn't be made. The worst movie I've ever seen is Rubber. A killer tire. Yes, it's really about a killer tire.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm such a big fan of the BBC P&P that I've never felt the need to see the newer version... And if you can believe it, I've never seen the others you listed either!

I'd add Gigli, but I didn't see it. :D LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I actually walked out of the theater on Scary Movie. It didn't make my list because I had deleted it from my mind :).

The way you feel about the Green Hornet is the way my husband feels about the Green Lantern.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ah, Green Hornet was NOT good. I agree. I've never seen the P&P with Colin Firth and I love him. I should watch it.

    @Dezzy - I liked LEAGUE, too.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The Green Hornet? C'mon, it was so much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  40. LOL. I've never watched any of the Land Before Time movies--there do seem to be an awful lot of them. :P

I've never seen a Pride and Prejudice movie; will have to remember to stay away from that one!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I had problems watching The Green Hornet too - it was that horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I haven't seen any movies on your list with the exception of Scary Movie and P&P. I didn't care for either.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I've seen some of these but don't remember them. I will agree about League and the most recent P & P. What a waste.

  44. Great list! I wish they had stopped making Land Before Time movies after the second one. :/

    ReplyDelete
  45. I loved the first Land Before Time, but I imagine "Yep, yep, yep!" gets annoying after a thousand times.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I hadn't heard of most of those movies and looks like it's a good thing. Now I know why you took the time to enter this 'fest (no way I could think of 10 movies I didn't like) - you just wanted yet another excuse to put up a pic of Colin Firth after the swim scene. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

  47. Great choices! Goodness, you mentioning The Land Before Time brought back memories!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. love your choices--especially the scary movie et al.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I was none too impressed with Green Hornet either blah

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hah! Nice. I don't know about the worst movie I've ever seen, but I just saw Burlesque, and it was pretty bad!

    ReplyDelete
  51. "Swept Away" was horridly, frighteningly awful!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Freddie Got Fingered was my worst! But I have to admit that Swept Away was just plain terrible! And Pink Panther II made my husbands list.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I had to think hard, but eventually came up with a couple of movies I didn't enjoy: Atonement and Wanted. Both star James McAvoy, who I usually like, but these movies were so disappointing.

I liked the Pride and Prejudice movie because it was so different, but nothing can come near the BBC series with Colin Firth. Perfection!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh my goodness, I've seen so many awful ones I can't even begin to tell you. Most recently, Crash. I hated that I watched it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I thought Green Hornet was a set-up for a series, and whenever Seth Rogen isn't atatched to a bong, it seems like he's stretching as an actor. Perhaps my standards are really that low...

    ReplyDelete
  56. Great list. I completely agree with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

  57. It kinda sucked that the Superman movies got progressively bad ...

    ReplyDelete
  58. Green Hornet and Pink panther II! I just could not stand those movies! :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Great picks; I couldn't finish Green Hornet either. I felt like you, my brain cells would die if I endured it any longer~ LAME

    ReplyDelete
  60. Did you actually sit through the entire length of Swept Away?

I've yet to watch the 1st Transformers so I'll steer clear of that series!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I forgot about The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, my list is getting longer...

  62. Don't worry, Pride & Prejudice is one I hate as well. Matthew MacFayden is not Mr. Darcy, he's more a Heathcliff. And Keira Knightly, well there is simply no logical reason for her to even have a career. She's a one trick pony. Plus, in this version it's like they tore out the most important parts of P&P and went with the peripherals.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I was so crushed that The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen SUCKED, because the premise had real promise. I scoff at Hollywood for remaking successful movies (SPIDERMAN, SUPERMAN, FOOTLOOSE, etc.) when instead they should be looking at movies that had potential and failed. :)
