Recently I was surfing YouTube and I came across this biopic for Agatha Christie. It talks about the eleven days she went missing (Did you know AC suffered from amnesia?) and it talks about her later in life when she attends a tenth anniversary showing of The Mousetrap.
The young Agatha is played by Olivia Williams (isn't she beautiful!?) and the older by Anna Massey. I loved Williams when she was in Jane Austen's life story. I have seen Massey in Written in Blood (an Inspector Barnaby episode) and in The Importance of Being Ernest.
You can find it here on YouTube. It's in nine parts.

Looks interesting. Thanks for pointing it out! :)
ReplyDeleteI did read an article about Christie being lost. There was some speculation she did it as a prank back then, for a book promotion. Although, if I remember correctly, the police never did solve the case. Interesting read that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteLove Olivia Williams.
Clarissa - Oh, I've heard about this! And of course I read about those days she went missing. Thanks for the pointer on this. I will most definitely check it out!
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't seen it yet,
ReplyDeleteI've seen the 1979 film, 'Agatha', starring Vanessa Redgrave in the title role and Dustin Hoffman as Wally Stanton, an American reporter. It was a fictionalised 'account' of what may have happened during Mrs Christie's disappearance.
ReplyDeleteWill be intrigued to see this alternative offering, though!
I was also going to say I saw the Vanessa Regrave as Agatha in the film erm.. "Agatha" about the time she disappeared for 11 days!!!
ReplyDeleteOoh thanks for this link though - something to watch over the weekend! Hooorah! Take care
x
I've read about Christie, but I've never seen this series. I can't wait to watch it. Thanks for the heads up!!
ReplyDeleteNo, I did not know about her going missing.
ReplyDeleteOn the way to Youtube now.
I haven't heard about it, but it sounds intriguing, that moment in her life was really mysterious!
ReplyDeleteI'd not heard of this before.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with a mother who loved Agatha Christie. I used to look at the book covers and try to work out what the stories were about - until I could read them myself, that is.
Always found the disappearance highly intriguing.
Thanks for pointing this out.
Wow, I had no idea! She actually used to live on the next street over from me. It's weird to think I'm following in her footsteps when I walk around my neighbourhood. James Joyce, too!
ReplyDeleteI did not know Agatha Christie had amnesia. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteI, too, loved her in Jane Austen's story. So strange about Christie being lost. I'm so curious now.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this, but I want to. Thanks for reminding me of it. I'm going to see if I can Netflix it instantly. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOoh, thanks for sharing this! I've always been interested in that Christie mystery.
ReplyDeleteThis is just my cup of tea! I can't wait to get it.
ReplyDeleteShe was great in Austen's story. Didn't know about ACs amnesia episode. Going to check out You Tube now.
ReplyDeleteI used to read her books. I've heard she led a pretty interesting life. I'm sure it's good to watch. Thanks for the info, Clarissa!
ReplyDeleteThe actress pictured is quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI loooove Agatha! Thanks for pointing this out to me!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link! You know, I never saw the movie with Vanessa Redgrave -- although I always intended to at the time. (I'll have to remember to look it up.)
ReplyDeletewow! I haven't seen that, but I really like Olivia Williams, too. Just saw Hanna, and she was very good in it. And of course, Rushmore. :D
ReplyDeleteI'll check this out~
I looked at the picture in great surprise, because every photo I've seen of her, well, let's say she wasn't too attractive, even in her younger years. Then finished reading your post and saw that's the actress. Aha, now I see. I'll watch this, I adore Agatha Christie!
ReplyDeleteClarissa, Agatha Christie is my all time favorite crime novel author. Hercule Poirot was very inspirational to me. Great find!
ReplyDeleteHow cool! Thanks for sharing it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely look these up because I love AC and that woman is s beautiful. Those eyes.
ReplyDeleteWho would have guessed she has Amnesia with so much writing up her sleeve
Thanks so much for letting us know about this. Agatha Christie is one of my idols. I've seen the Vanessa Redgrave film a couple of times--love it.
ReplyDeletePlus there are various TV shows that have dealt with the disappearance. Even a Doctor Who episode.(I think it also involves giant bees, although I can't remember how they're related)
But I'd never heard of this one! I will definitely watch it. Thanks a bunch.
GREAT BLOG...love your header.
ReplyDeleteStopping by to take a look around.
NEW FOLLOWER.

Agatha Christie also wrote novels under the name Mary Westmacott. One of these, Unfinished Portrait, contains a heroine whose state of mind is undoubtedly AC's at the time of her disappearance. So it's not exactly corect to say that she never talked or wrote about what happened.
