I just returned from my very first cruise holiday--and it was wonderful! I can see myself taking another cruise in the future. Someday I might be like those older cruisers who have gone twenty times or more.
Seriously, I'm sure there are great writing retreats on a cruise ship. Spend a week on a ship and just write. If not, there very well should be. I found myself in the library every night, listening to music and writing away.
The food was delicious. So much so I gained 1.8kgs in one week. Yikes. Now, I have to diet. I didn't get sick, not even sea sick and I had a couple of massages as well. That said, I'm glad to be home (a little) and ready to continue writing my next book.
I have decided to try and catch up best as I can but I'm not going to stress out too much with the 1000+ posts in my reader. I will just make sure I get back to reading what you're posting now and touch base with my 100+ emails.
Have you been on a cruise? How about a writing cruise? What did you like? Not like?

Welcome back, Clarissa! I've never been on a cruise but my husband and I both have that on our list of future wants. A writing cruise sounds fabulous!
Welcome back and glad you had an awesome time! We have not had a cruise but are saving for a Disney Cruise some time next year.
Welcome back, Clarissa! That sounds like paradise on water. Except the weight gain...
I'm so glad you survived the cruise. Sometimes, I read about horrible things that befall people on cruises.
We want to take a Grecian cruise next year. Glad to hear it's wonderful!
I would love to go on a cruise. Never been yet though.
I've never been on a cruise but it sounds lovely. I would sit in the library writing, reading and listening to music. I would also eat all the scrummy food.
A writing cruise is most definitely ideal!
Welcome back. Your trip sounds relaxing! (I say delete all the post in your reader and start fresh tomorrow.) ;)
Welcome back! :)
All my cruises were compliments of the U.S. Navy.
Welcome back! Hubby and I went on a Hawaiian cruise for our honeymoon and we both absolutely loved it. I would love to go on a cruise again - whether or not it's a writing one.
Welcome baaaaaaaaack!! Wow!! A cruise!! How exciting and sounds like it was most relaxing too! Fanstastic!
Ooh I do like the sound of a writing cruise - now that would definitely be something worth saving for and going to! Yay! Take care

I'm so glad you had a great ime.
I've been on two cruises--one to Alaska and one to the Caribbean. Both times I thought how nice it would be to go on a writing cruise.
I could totally see setting a thriller on a cruise ship.
My wife is a travel agent and she's been on at least a dozen cruises. I've only been on four, two of those to Alaska, which has become my all-time favorite vacation!!!
I've wondered several times about what it would take to organize a writing retreat/mini-conference on a cruise. The sea days would be perfect for it. I'd be on-board (pardon the pun)! :)
Well, thanks for inviting us to come with you on the cruise :)
I personally haven't been to the seaside for about 20 years or more, not to mention a cruise ;)
Welcome back!
So glad you had a wonderful cruise! I'm envious of your writing nights in the library :)
I long time ago I went on a cruise. I think I was too young to appreciate it. The fact a cyclone had whipped through the waters didn't help. The sea was so rough and the pool was always closed.
Welcome back!
We've been on cruise in the Mediterranean Sea twice. I liked it. Very relaxing, and interesting to come to a new historic place every day. I don't want to go on a cruise with full entire days in open sea though. Too boring. That's the kind of thing I've been doing at work >;)
Cold As Heaven
Welcome back - so glad you had fun! I haven't been on a cruise but I might be going next year. I'll make sure to be ready to spend it writing =)
Welcome back! Sounds like you had a wonderful time! Never been on one myself, though.
Glad you had a good time!
Welcome home. Glad you enjoyed the high seas. Yeah-writing on a ship is fun!
I see you didn't stay far from the writer in you!
I am soooooo glad you enjoyed your cruise!!! beautiful!! :) i have been on a cruise but a very simple one... only for 30 mts or so!!! Goa has such short term offerings for tourists with music , food , dance etc.... i enjoyed it too..but my dream is to spend at least one week on the bed of water with only sky around me !! :)
Welcome back, Clarissa! The cruise sounds wonderful, I'm glad you had a good time. I've never been on one, but I like the sound of a writing cruise.
I've been on ONE cruise, and that was my honeymoon 15 years ago! LOL. LOVED IT. Would love to take another cruise. But a writing cruise? That'd be super fun. Sitting not he deck with the computer, staring out over the open water as I typed words to a new story....*le sigh* Count me in!
Hi Clarissa! Welcome home. I've never been on a cruise. It's something I might do someday, but not really on the top of my list. There's so many places I'd love to travel to and see and stay for a while...and write!
A week with nice weather and beautiful views with nothing to do but write sounds amazing!
I've always wanted to go on a cruise! Hopefully one day I'll do it. So glad you had a good time!
Clarissa - I am so sorry I didn't see this yesterday. Bad Margot!! I'm glad you had a wonderful time! I've been on one cruise and loved it :-).
Hi, Clarissa, you have some discipline on you to actually get some work done.
I'd love to go on a cruise one day, but the pessimist in me is telling me that the ship will probably sink.
Oh, how fun! I've never been on a cruise, but I think it'd be a blast. Other people cooking for me? How could I beat that? LOL Especially if it's delicious food as you say. Glad you didn't get seasick; I've never thought of that! But I guess the ships are big enough not to feel the roll and pitch of the sea.
Oh god yes, I love cruises they are just awesome, like, I don't even know where to begin.
I have been a few cruises. I love the idea of a writing cruise though. That sounds like it would be fun.I am going to have to look at putting something together...
I actually went on my first cruise over the summer, and it was a lot of fun! At first, I was a little antsy thinking "why am I here" when I had to move, etc., but by the end, I was looking back and thinking what a great time I'd had. Yay! I can see me doing it again~ <3
Oh, that sounds like so much fun! I would love to go on a cruise someday, but hubby's not a boat person so I don't know when that will happen. As for writing on a cruise, I can't remember the details but there actually is a famous cruise for authors. I bet if you did a little searching or asked on an online writing list someone could lead you to it. Hey, then it would be tax-deductible, too!
Hi Clarissa .. sounds so much fun .. and being able to disappear to the library to listen to music and write - what a blissful experience. With good food .. I think I'd stay 365 days .. ?! Well perhaps not ..
Good to have you back and home again .. life goes on and we're still here - cheers Hilary
PS hope there are some pics?
I have been on a couple of cruises and love them. I think there is a writing one that leaves from a Los Angeles port. I'm not sure if they do it every year, but I'm sure it would be fun.
Ann
It wouldn't have been a proper cruise if weight had not been gained! Welcome back and glad to hear you had such a great time!
I use to dream about traveling around the world. But, as you know, I'm stranded, and don't fuss about it anymore. But I am so happy when I hear of someone enjoying a cruise. My youngest childless daughter and her husband take several cruises a year, so I live them vicariously through her!
So glad you enjoyed it. And I wouldn't worry about gaining weight because you can always lose it when you get home.
