A simple but effective program. And if it helps you write and create, all the better.
ReplyDeleteCool! I'm going to check this out with you as the year progresses. I like to learn new stuff too!
ReplyDeleteA Gimp! A Gnu!! I love these!! Take care

I think I'll join you. Sounds interesting. I'd never heard of it.
ReplyDeleteYou are my savior! I just downloaded GIMP a week or so ago so I can do a little designing for swag, and I'm totally lost! I will be watching these posts carefully!

ReplyDeleteI put Gimp on all of my client's computers. It's a great free program.
ReplyDeleteI'll be right there with you, Clarissa. Downloaded it a while back, but haven't done anything with it yet.
ReplyDeleteOK, this is new to me, but so far so good. I'm going to learn from you :) I hope you offer free tech support!
ReplyDeleteMy SO told me about GIMP. He's shown me a few tricks. I like it a lot. I don't have a huge need for it...yet, but I enjoy the program.
ReplyDeleteSo looking forward to your instructions on this. I've downloaded the program, but never really done much with it.

Thoughts in Progress
Someday I fully intend to have a big fancy tablet with Photoshop. I can't wait for that day ;) Just gotta save up $3k first. :D
ReplyDeleteClarissa, I will be following you on this one...I have Gimp installed and yet to use it so you are coming in at the right time! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I came upon this post! I just installed Gimp and have tried figuring it out but I'm generally hopeless at this kind of thing. I'm looking forward to following along with your posts on this!
ReplyDeleteI installed Gimp a while back but after gotten around to using it yet. Thanks for the nudge.
ReplyDeleteOh looks like a cool program... and more accessible than photoshop (which is what I use)
ReplyDeleteShall try this, looks fun.
ReplyDeleteClarissa - Thanks for this! It definitely looks like a useful tool to learn.
ReplyDeleteI used Gimp in a technical writing course a few years ago. I need to try it again.

Ooh I love gimp! But I actually use Inkscape more. They're fairly similar but I find that Inkscape is a bit more user friendly. I actually created my website logo (the writing nut) using that program.

I feel really stupid because it looks way too difficult for me to learn. I bought Adobe, a long time ago and finally, after days (not hours), I had to give up. The learning curve was way over my head. It sounds like a useful tool, especially for book covers, but I have accepted that we cannot all excel in all areas and this particular area is my weakest.
ReplyDeleteI've downloaded GIMP, but I've never used it before.

I've tried using Gimp before but had little success with it.
ReplyDeleteI downloaded Gimp some time ago but didn't get very far with it. I shall watch these posts with interest, Clarissa.
ReplyDeleteI should know this and GIMP has indeed been my friend for the last year or so. I would also recommend "INKSCAPE" which is a open source to create vectors and drawings. ( it's like adobe illustrator only it is free) I should know because I did the cover for my own e-book- Any feedback on this would be great. Also anyone willing to like my page, would get to read this one for FREE- Just email me and i will send you a coupon. This will be valid until Valentine's day. Valentine's day can't be romantic without a romantic read. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/140051
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! Thanks for the link. I'm going to download and check it out.
